What is Ritchie Bros.' Sales Graduate Program?

It's a paid opportunity to learn how to be a trusted sales professional; you'll learn the science and the art of the deal from some of the best sales experts in the industry. You'll receive hands-on exposure on how to manage a book of business, from lead generation techniques to territory optimization to negotiating and closing.

The program is designed to give someone with no knowledge of our industry or someone with limited sales experience, the tools, the knowledge and the confidence to excel. The exposure one will receive to how a global leader in equipment asset management and disposition operates cannot be found anywhere else.

How many applications do we receive?

We receive over 1,700 applications each year, to 30 coveted spots, it's quite the achievement to be selected.

How is the program structured?

Depending on whether you're a student looking for a part-time opportunity or a recent graduate seeking full-time, participants can join the program as a Trainee Territory Manager or Sales Intern. The program is structured around 4 auctions. Each auction is what we consider an "auction cycle module", consisting of specific learning objectives that can take up to 3 months to complete.

Retirement plan, employee share purchase plan both with company matching. Ongoing sales training, professional development and a tuition reimbursement program.

What are the requirements to join the program?

  • Post-secondary education and Master's studies are a strong asset, ideally you have graduated in Sales, Marketing, Commerce, Business, Construction, or Agriculture. If you are still in your 4th year of studies -let us know and we'll consider a part-time sales internship in this program.
  • We need you to be adventurous and mobile. A firm requirement of the program is to relocate if a territory in the region in which you are trained is not available.
  • You have experience on an organized sports team, running your own small business or direct work experience in an outside sales position preferred.

When was the program launched?

The initial program was piloted in North America back in 2005, derived from a need to train sales talent into our industry. Now in its 12th consecutive year, we've made hundreds of hires around the world with many growing into senior leadership positions. In 2017, we redesigned the program to further cement our “grow our own talent” strategy and drive our relationships with students, post-secondary institutions, industry associations and business partners. This has enabled us to scale the program to over a dozen countries, opening the doors of opportunity for many more.

When can I apply?

We advertise vacant positions throughout the year, there is no annual deadline to apply.
