Take Hwy 5 through Kamloops and on to Clearwater, then turn left onto Clearwater Valley Rd. From Calgary: Head west on Hwy 1 toward Banff. About the Area
Wells Gray Provincial Park in one of BC’s largest parks, covering approximately 1.28 million acres (518,000 ha)—an area almost as big as Prince Edward Island—and is visited by more than 100,000 visitors annually. The park contains mineral springs, several waterfalls and five major lakes: Murtle, Clearwater, Mahood, Azure and Hobson. One of the highlights of the park is Helmcken Falls, which is 137 metres (450 ft) high—it is the fourth highest waterfall in Canada. The park also features a wealth of wildlife, including at least 50 species of mammals (eg. moose, wolverine, wolf, mountain caribou, deer, mountain goat, black bears, grizzly bears).
